HEAVY COAL LOSSES

STRIKES AND STOPPAGES (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Drastic rationing of power, gas and transport is certain this winter unless New South Wales coal production increases. This is due mainly to huge coal losses caused by strikes and stoppages in the coalmines, and to the expansion in industry. Since the miners resumed work on January 17, after their Christmas holidays, strikes and stoppages have lost more than 210,000 tons of coal.
