GROWING PANIC
DISORDERS IN TSINGTAO (Rcc. 12.15 p.m.) NANKING, Feb. 13. Disordei’s broke out last night in some parts of Tsingtao, the last Na-tionalist-held city in North China. Mobs taking advantage of the growing panic and confusion caused by the evacuation of Government officials, attempted to storm and loot shops and private residences, according to Chinese press reports. Rifle fire was heard throughout the night in various districts as the police attempted to restore order. Nati9nalist troops are still manning Tsingtao’s outskirts, but they are expected to be withdrawn within a week or two. There are between 150 and 200 foreigners in Tsingtao, including 70 Americans, for whose protection a battalion of marines has been kept there. Vice-Admiral Badger and his flagship El Dorado are still in Tsingtao The lull continues along the Yangtse front.
