CONTROL OF DEPARTMENT STORES LONDON, Jan. 6. The Treasury had allowed the company 750,000 dollars to secure control of stores in America, “subject to certain conditions being fulfilled,” Mr Isaac Wolf son, chairman and managing director of Great Universal Stores, Ltd., who was a witness at the Lynskey tribunal, told his company’s general meeting to-day. “We should acquire a substantial interest, giving us effective control of some important departmental stores in America, the object of this acquisition being to foster exports to Ihe United States by ensuring that British goods should be adequately represented to the American public,”
