CODE OF ETHICS IN RENO

GUIDE FOR MINISTERS * NEW YORK, Jan. 6. Ministers in Reno to-day adopted a code of ethics, and promised not to chase taxi-cabs in search of matrimonial fees. * , Reno’s revenue from marriages amounts to about 250,000 a year and is nearly as lucrative for the city as is the divorce business.

The ministers’ code says: “No minister should commercialise the performance of weddings by making deals with taxi-drivers, courthouse employees or any other individuals who may act as solicitors. All marriages should be performed in an ethical way.”

The code also fr®wns on the practice common in Reno of marrying couples wherever they happen to be when they decide to say “I do.” The code says that it is not deemed proper for any minister to perform a marriage ceremony in a hotel or commercial chapel and adds that a minister should never lower his ideals to appear “a good fellow” or “one of the boj's.”
