PRESIDENT SUPPORTED

OTAGO PUBLIC SERVANTS MEET (P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 7. Unanimous support for the national president (Mr J. P. Lewin) and condemnation of the Government’s tactics in the “Holmes case” were expressed at a meeting of the Otago section committee of the Public Service Association last night. According to a statement by the Otago chairman (Mr L. G. Eagles), a special meeting of the executive council of the association will be held in Wellington this month, and the Otago delegates have been given a free hand to do anything possible to press for fulfilment of the Government’s promises on salary claims, and to fight any victimisation of leaders or members of the association. The appointment of a full-time salaried president would be considered.
