DE GAULLE CONFIDENT

“BACK IN POWER THIS YEAR” (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) PARIS, Jan. 6. General De Gaulle predicted , that he would come back to power this year, either through elections or “some shock of incidents.”

The general wrote in his party’s paper: “The year now beginning will impose great duties on us. Unity and brotherhood are our watchword. Until the goal is reached we are pledged to one another and all together to France. In 1047 we began our task of public salvation. In 1948 we grew into an immense force. In 1049 we will lead the French people to their vie-.-tory. The feudal system crushing France must be swept aside if she is not to lose her independence. Whether it is swept aside by universal suffrage, as we desire, or by some forceful turn of events it is to us that the country will turn. It is our task to make a republic capable of ensuring the destiny of France.”
