Fixture at Ashburton OPENING DRAW MADE Entries for the handicap tournament to be conducted by the Mid - Canterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association next Saturday, and on December IS, show' an increase on last year’s total. Comparisons are as follow', last year’s figures being given in parentheses : A Grade—Men’s singles 37 (33), women’s singles 25 (17), men’s doubles IS (16), women’s doubles 16 (11), combined doubles 36.(25). B grade—. Men’s singles 38 (49), women’s singles 35 (30), men’s doubles 20 (22), women’s doubles 20 (19) combined doubles 32 (32). Total of entries in both grades is 277, compared with 254 last season. Players are urged to be ready for play at 9 a.m., as the programme must be completed to schedule. In the case of postponement, announcements will be made through 3YA. The draw for the first round is as follows:
