WOODCOCK BEATS U.S. BOXER
■ SAVOLD DISQUALIFIED IN FOURTH ROUND LONDON, December 6. The,British heavy-weight champion, Bruce Woodcock, won his fight against the’ American heavy-weight, Lee Savold, at the: Harringay Stadium tonight. ..Savold was disqualified in the fourth round for a foul blow. . It was ,stated before the fight , that the, winner would probably fight for Joe liouis’s world title. * The, end of the fight did not meet with the crowd’s approval. Spectators booed, whistled, and cat-called, and it was some time befpre the decision, could be announced. . r : The foul blow was a right upper but when the two boxers were in a clinch in the middle of the ring. Woodcock dropped to his knees in agony. ■ " The referee, who had warned Savold to keep his punches up, awarded Woodcock the fight without the slightest hesitation. D < ‘ Savold forced the fight throughout, and had'Woodcock down for eight,in the third round.
