BABY BORN 10 WEEKS PREMATURELY

SURVIVAL BELIEVED LIKELY LONDON, Dec. 7. A ten weeks’ prematurely-born baby weighing only 20oz and measuring seven inches from head to toes will, it is believed, grow into a normal healthy child if all goes well in the next fortnight. The baby, swathed in cotton wool, is in an oxygen tent in a Southampton maternity home. The sister at the hospital said: “The medical authorities consider that it is almost impossible for a baby born more than two : months premature to live. Theoretically, the baby should not be alive, but this is her fourth day of existence.”
