i PROGRAMME FIXED FOR ' x FEBRUARY, 1950 (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 6. The Empire Games Avill be held in. Auckland from February 4 40 11, 1950. When the full organising committee of 15 members Avas appointed to-night it was decided that the sports for the Games should be athletics, boxing, wrestling, weight lifting, swimming, fencing, laAvn boAvls, roAving, and cycling. The programme of events will closely folloAv that of previous Empire Games festivals. Official invitations to Empire countries to compete in the festival will soon be distributed. His Majesty the King Avill be asked to be patron of the Games, and the Governor-General .(Sir Bernard Freyberg) Avill be approached to be vice-patron. The Prime Minister has been appointed president, and the Mayor of Auckland A'ice-president.
