WOMEN'S DIVISION

Mid-Canterbury Executive A meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the Foresters' Hall. Mrs A. S. Hayrnan presided. A report on “Girls’ Week,” held at Te Kiteroa, was given, and a report written by one of the girls proved very interesting; Business included discussions on immigration matters, child welfare, Malvern Hospital Ward, district nurse-for country areas and other matters of particular interest to country women. Mrs G. Moore gave reports on the travelling dressmaker and housekeeper work. Remits for the forthcoming interprovincial conference were discussed. LYNNFORD BRANCH > The president, Mrs C. Beavan, presided at the November meeting of the Lynnford branch of the W.D.F.F. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mesdames J. Robertson, W. Mackay, L. and C. Noble, and with the family of the late Mrs E. Fleming, of Ldsmore.

Mrs Beavan gave a report on the recent executive meeting held in Ashburton.

11 was decided to have a children’s Christmas party in the school .grounds at the December meeting. The competitions resulted: —Pincushion, Mrs C. Beavan 1, Mrs A. McIntosh 2, Mrs G. Chalmers 3; marble cake, Mrs C. Beavan 1, Mrs A. Mclntosh 2, Miss P. Bishop 3; jar of pansies, Mrs L. Moore 1, Miss P. Bishop 2, Mrs G. Chalmers 3; lettuce, Mesdames C. Beavan and L. Noble (equal) 1, Mesdames L. Hill and A. Mclntosh (equal) 3, Mrs W. Mackay and Miss P. Bishop (equal) 5. iV The hostesess were Mesdames G. Moore and G. Chalmers. MITCHAM-ROKEBY BRANCH Mrs N. Hurst presided at the October meeting of the Mitcham-Rokeby branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers.

It was decided to send a donation of £lO to “Scotlands.” A letter of appreciation was read for a food parcel received in England. Results of competitions were:-—Best bloom, Mrs J. Crozier 1, Mrs N. Hurst 2, Miss Nicholas 3; jar of preserved fruit, Mrs L. Crosson 1, Miss Magson 2, Miss Nicholas and Mrs D. Morris (equal) 3; prettiest duchesse set, Miss Nicholas 1, Mrs L. Crosson 2, Miss Magson 3.
