METHVEN RED CROSS SOCIETY
WORK OF PAST MONTH Mr A. L. Mangin presided over the monthly meeting of the Methven subbranch of the Red Cross Society. Motions of sympathy were extended to Mesdames J. F. Stone and L. L. Richards in their recent bereavements. The-' hon. treasurer stated that the branch had fonvarded £lO and the Junior Red Cross £3 to the Save-t£e-Children Fund. It Avas r&ported that over half a ton of fat had been sent away since May. It AA r as reported that tins for the collection' of fat could bo obtained from Mrs McTntosh, and the president reminded members that fat Avas ur gently needed. A letter Avas received from a displaced German refugee expressing grateful thanks for a clothing parcel forwarded to his small son. It was agreed to forward a case of food to the old people in the Isle of Skye. Mrs Reid gave a detailed report of the recent delegates’ meeting in Ashburton. It Avas decided to hold the annual appeal in October as visual, and the next monthly meeting on August 3.
