WOMEN’S DIVISION
ASHBURTON BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Ashburton branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the Foresters* Hall. Mrs A. S. Hayman presided. A vote of sympathy in bereavement was passed with Mrs Stuart Taylor. Mrs E. M. Begg gave the housekeeper report. A report on the recent interprovincial conference held in Timaru was also presented. Mrs E. M. Begg gave a pioneer talk on her family history and experiences in the early days of Canterbury. The roll call was “A quotation, verse or labour-saving hint.” Mrs Dayman gave a short account of her visit to (lie Auckland Rest Home and of the opening ceremony. Competitions resulted: Large bloom, Mrs Watson 1. Mrs Wightman 2, Mrs Harper 3; small bloom, Mrs Wightman 1, Mrs Watson 2.
