Committee at Ashburton FOUR APPLICATIONS APPROVED Business avus light at a. sitting of the Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee at Ashburton today. Of the original list of seven, only four cases were dealt with and all were settled without argument. Mr W. H. Nieliolls (chairman) presided and associat- , ed with him were Messrs B. T. Robertson and C. B. Idle. The following wore the applications dealt with : Rale of house at South Rakaia, from Thomas Greygoose, of Rakaia, to Peter Patrick Harris, of Christchurch. The house is of six rooms on a section of 2 roods. The price asked Avas £‘7oo. It Avas sold in 1931 for £4OO and the Crown valuation Avas £560. The application was granted, subject to a reduc-iion in price io £6OO.
Rale of a. house in Dobson Street, Ashburton, from Barnabas Chambers to Thomas P. Clinton, both of Ashburton. The section is of one rood. The price asked was £9OO and the property was sold for £425 in 1945, since when, however, extonsive repairs have been carried out. The 1936 valuation roll placed the value at £585. Mr B. C. Wilson,-for the Crown, valued the property at £705 and Mr R. L. Rtephenson for the A r endor at £797 By consent the sale was approved at £750.
Sale, of house in Tinwald from Mrs Mary Nora. Brown, to S. T. E. Protlferoe, both of Ashburton. The price asked for the property (two roods in area) was £I3OO and it was valued by Mr Wilson at £IO9O. The vendor’s valuation, by Mr W. H. Amos, Avas £1233. The sale Avas approved by consent at £llsO.
Rale of section of one rood in Winter’s Road, from C. R. Moriarty to Malcolm Walker, bolli of Ashburton. The price asked, £6O. was approved unopposed.
