THE REST An innovation was put on at the greens of the Ashburton Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon, taking the form of a match Afternoon Players v. The Rest. Nine rinks from each side took part and the result was —Afternoon 135, The Rest 192. Scores were as follow (Afternoon skips mentioned first): Warriner 13, R. McElhinney 21; Cookson 20, J. Lane 24; A. Lane 18, S. Mitchell 20; W. R. Lane 21, Coclcroft 17; Higgins IS, Lowry IS: Buxton 10, Bonifacio 27.; Milsom 15, Pryde 24; Porter 17, Rickerby IS; Maxwell 23, Lindsay 23.

During the afternoon tea recess Mr G. Bowman (president) suitably acknowledged and accepted on behalf of the club a trophy donated for the match by Mr W. J. Brown, expressing (he hope that the fixture would he an annual one. The trophy itself, a novelty consisting of a “jack” mounted on a polished wooden plinth, with silver plates affixed ready for engraving, came in for a great deal of admiration.
