BROAD JUMP RECORD BEST YET BY OTAGO MAN (P.A.) DUNEDIN, February 15. S. R. ‘Dawson, of the Leith Club, heat the New Zealand broad jump record at the Otago athletic championships, jumping 23ft 11?.in. As there was a slight following wind, no application will he made for recognition of a record, but the Otago Centre will apply for recognition of earlier jumps of 23ft 9Jin as a best performance by a New Zealander. The present record, 23ft Hkiih, is held by J. P. Metcalfe, New South Wales. Dawson also won the 100 yards championship in 10 l-ssec, and the 220 yards championship in 22 4-ssec.
