POWER SAVING
Only 7.5 per cent. Last : ‘ Week EFFORT BELOW REQUIREMENT Saving of electric power in the Ashburton Electric Power Board’s district during the seven-day period ended last evening was only 7.5 per cent, of the consumption in the corresponding period of last year. The objective laid down by the Electricity Controller was a saving of 10 per cent.
Mr H. G. Kemp (engineer-secre-tary to the Ashburton Electric Power Board) .said that the weekend consumption in power had been heavy, indicating 1 little endeavour on the part, of consumers to save, and only by inducing the voltage over the system had it been possible to effect even a 7.5 per cent, saving. Htfd this action not been taken, Mr Kemp doubted if the overall saving would have reached 5 per cent. Mr Kemp has not, as yet, received any additional instructions concerning the position for the current week.
