WARM CONDITIONS AGAIN TODAY Beautiful summer weather prevailed in Ashburton this morning, the sun shining from a cloudless sky. Barometric pressure at the Domain to-day was slightly lower than yesterday, the reading being 29.97 inches. The cooler conditions prevailing yesterday are indicated by the maximum reading, 70.2 degrees, compared with 81.2 on Tuesday. The minimum temperature yesterday was 57.2 degrees against 57.1 for the previous period. The earth temperature yesterday was 66 degrees. Relative humidity at the radar station at Ashburton airport to-day was 80 per cent, and pressure 29.76 inches. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 71.7 and 57 degrees respectively.

PROSPECTS MAINLY FAIR « ' (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: Anti-cyclones cover New Zealand and a deep depression is situated south of Tasmania, with a cold front approaching across the Tasman. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: —

Moderate to fresh north-easterly to northerly winds, with some scattered mist or drizzle in the morning, but weather otherwise fair and temperatures mild.

Further outlook: Isolated showers, but mainly fair.
