EXPLOSION ROCKS CITY
MORE TERRORISM IN JERUSALEM CURFEW AGAIN IMPOSED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 5. Three explosions rocked Jerusalem this evening, says Reuter’s Jerusalem correspondent. Jewish terrorists attacked the residence of General Barker and lobbed a number of hand-gren-ades into the Arab Legion guard . tent inside the barbedwire around the house. ' Legionaries drove off the attackers. The correspondent earlier reported that a gunbattle was going on with' sporadic shooting in many parts of the city. ' A landmine which exploded in the Street of The Prophets blew up a taxi and killed the two occupants. It is officially announced that a curfew has been imposed in the Northwestern area, which is about one-third of Jerusalem, where it is reported that a British constable was shot in the stomach, near Mustashfa police station. One British officer and one soldier were killed and four officers and' most of the civilian staff injured in a bomb attack on military headquarters at the Sarafand cantonment near TelAviv, says Reuter’s Jerusalem correspondent. The terrorists, who were reported to be wearing British uniforms, drove a lorry laden with explosives into the heavily guarded cantonment at army headquarters. They walked away. Fifteen minutes later a violent explosion wrecked the office building. It is feared that some are still missing, and the search is continuing. Isaac Ben Zvi, chairman of the Jewish National Council, for the second time in a week saw General Sir Alan Cunningham to-day, and it is believed, gave him a certain assurance about action to be taken in the event of continued terrorism.
