PERSONAL

Mrs J. S. Murray will represent St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Missionary union at the annual union conference in Wanganui from Tuesday, Octobei 29 to Wednesday, November G. The Rev. W. T. Blight is leaving Ashburton to-day for the North Island, where he intends to tour the Methodist churches in tfye Wairarapa, Auckland, and North Auckland districts. On his return trip Mr Blight will attend the Methodist Women’s Missionary Conference at Hamilton.

Captain G. A. K. Kelly, accompanied by Mrs Kelly will leave Ashburton this afternoon for Wellington where he will be invested by the American Minister with the Bronze Star Medal awarded him during the recent war. Captain Kelly’s parents, Mr and Mrs G. Kelly, of Wills Street, at the invitation of the. American Minister and Mrs Warren, will also be present at the investiture, which will take place at the Minister’s residence, Featherston.

Mr and Mrs G. Flower (Ashburton) have been advised that their son, Flight Lieutenant Richard Colin Flower, R.N.Z.A.F., on a flight from Ireland to Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, failed to reach his base and his body was found on September 9 washed ashore on the beach vpt Carlton Farm, Classerton, Scotland, He was buried with full military honours at the _ Glebe Cemetery on September 12. * Flight Lieutenant Flower was farming at Carew before he enlisted with the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1939. He went overseas in 1941. He was to have returned to New Zealand shortly.
