CONTROL OF PARDANELLES SOVIET SUGGESTION REJECTED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 22. Turkey has firmly informed Russia that she cannot accept the Soviet suggestion that talks for the revision of the Montreaux Convention should be confined to the Black Sea. States, says Reuter’s Ankara correspondent.

The reply rejected absolutely the suggestion that Russia should share with Turkey in the defence and control of the Dardanelles. Turkey will agree to discussions of the Convention only at an international conference at which all States concerned and the Allies are represented. The Turkish Note was handed to the Soviet Charge d’Affaires. It is reported to have been drafted after consultations with the British and American Ambassadors. •
