ANTARCTIC WHALING
JAPANESE VENTURE (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) TOKIO, Aug. S. Allied headquarters has authorised Japan to send a fleet of 12 whalers, two factory ships and seven carrier boats to the Antarctic in the 1946-47 whaling season. The Japanese anticipate a season’s catch of 2000 whales yielding 11,450 tons of oil, 1700 tons of frozen meat, 14,352 tons of salted meat, 9330 tons of salted blubber and 12 tons of liver oil.
