BAND CONTEST

Sir,—l read with pleasure the letter of “Junior Player,” published last evening, and would like to endorse his remarks, and also to ask the following questions : Who decides whether there will be a. contest in Ashburton or not? Has the Junior Band, which I believe has entered as a C grade band, any representative on this committee, or are they all supporters of the Senior Band, who, after having heard the juniors play in public, are apparently jealous of the standard they have reached? I see the committee does not think that the juniors are a sufficient draw to war_rant a contest in Ashburton. Now, Sir, I was present at a jubilee function which was held here recently, and visitors who were present from all parts, of New Zealand commented on the high standard of playing by the Junior Band. .

“Another Junior Player.”
