PRESENTATIONS TO REV FATHER LIDpY The Ashburton Catholic Clubrooms were filled to capacity last evening 'With a representative gathering of the congregation of the Church of the Holy Name, to honour their popular pi'iest, the 'Rev. Father T. Liddv, who has taken up duties at the Cathedral, Christchurch. The social function was organised by the Catholic Club, with Mr J. Hurley as convener. On behalf of the congregation, Mr A. A. McDonald presented Father Liddy with a cheque, eulogising the fine work of the guest of honour and the high esteem in which he was held by all sections of the community. 'The speaker was supported by the Rev. Father O. Gallagher, of Ashburton, the Rev Father P. O’Meeghan, of Methven, and Mr T. Purcell. A leather suitcase was presented to Father Liddy by Mr L. Flaherty on behalf of the Catholic Club. Previously Father Liddy was presented with a suitcase by the president of the Catholic Women’ll League (Mrs John McQuilkin) on behalf of members. i Instrumental items were given by Misses T., M. and B. Cullen and songs were sung by Miss K. Hanan. »
