NO AGREEMENT
NEW WAGES CONTRACT FOR MINERS (Rec. 9.30.) NEW YORK, May 30. The anthracite miners and operators failed to agree on a new contract, and it is indicated that 76,000 miners in Pennsylvania’s hard-coal fields will refuse to return to the pits to-morrow after the Memorial Day holiday.
The miners’ leaders indicated that they were seeking a contract on similar Terms to that negotiated for the bituminous fields. Discussions will be resumed to-morrow.
