STEALING FUR COATS

GANG OPERATING IN LONDON (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 31. Scotland Yard expects soon to smash, up the gang who are stealing fur coats worth £20,000 a month, says the “Evening Standard.” Arrests are expected in. the West a End, where it is suspected that many fur coats have been altered and resold in shops among other furs. So many furs have been stolen recently that furriers are advising buyers to sign their names on fur coats in indelible ink! Scotland Yard has adopted secret methods to trace the gang which has operated mainly in lavg© houses and blocks- of fiats. They 1/ave so far been unable to pin down the man they want most —a receiver. He is estimated to have made many thousands of pounds in the past six months. The thieves usually wait until a woman known to own expensive furs goes out shopping or for the evening without a fur.
