CHURCHILL BACK IN BRITAIN

GREETED BY CHEERS AND BOOS LONDON, March 27. Undisturbed by the boos and catcalls, which mingled with cheers at the dockside at Southampton, Mr Churchill waved his cigar and made the Vsign. The boos came mainly from dockers and ships’ repairers. The cheers overwhelmed the boos. A bitter critic yelled: ‘Chuck him in the sea.” After a civic reception, Mr Churchill received Press representatives. Asked whether he wished to see a definite British-American military alliance, Mr Churchill said: ‘‘l want us to go on as we are —only more so.’ He said he found the American attitude toward Britain friendly. When asked to comment on his reactions to the British loan, he replied: ‘‘The matter is before Congress. It is much better to leave it to them to discuss it without British remarks.”
