VERY WARM TO-DAY With scarcely any breeze, and bright sunshine', conditions in Ashburton to-day were very warm. The temperature at 2.30 this afternoon was 83.2 degrees. General situation: An anti-cyclone lies north of the Dominion, and a series of depressions are passing in the far south. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follow's: Fair and warm at first, with northwesters freshening to-morrow, but a change to cool south-westers with a few' showers during the afternoon. Further outlook: Probably fair.
