POO'R RESPONSE SO FAR There has not been a good response so far in either the Ashburton Borough or the County to the appeal for funds for the establishment, of the Captain C. H. IJpham, V.C. and Bar Scholarship Fund. Three subscription lists have been distributed in the Borough —one at the Library, one at. the Municipal Chambers; and one at a commercial office. So far there are only four contributions, totalling £3 18s, and they are all on the one list. The quota of ihe Borough is £ISS. A canvas will lie made at Tinwald before the appeal closes on December 15. Subscriptions toward the County’s quota of £Bl6 total £ll, all of whicli has been subscribed at the County Office in Ashburton. There are no subscriptions at. Raknia or Mcthven, where the other lists for the County are.
