CAUSING BODILY HARM

WOMAN ADMITTED TO PROBATION (P.A.) NELSON, December 3. In the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers) admitted Corona Effie Webby to two years’ probation. She was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm to her husband, Keith Douglas Webby, in such circumstances that if death had occurred she would have been guilty of manslaughter, the jury making a strong recommendation for mercy. His Honour said that after careful consideration of reports by the probation officer, the police, and a doctor, he had come to the conclusion that lie would be justified in granting probation.
