SLIPE WOOL.
PREFERENTIAL SHIPMENT. (P.A.) GISBORNE, June 1. While New Zealand wool producers are awaiting with interest the reopening of the wool traffic between the Dominion and the United Kingdom on the normal peacetime scale, piecemeal shipments have been proceeding as space in overseas vessels has been available. A significant feature of this reduced traffic is that scoured and slipe wools appear to have a distinct preference, and the assumption is that these consignments have been selected with a view to getting woollen manufacturers on the Continent of Europe moving as early as possible. It is reported that most of the slipe and scoured wool held in Gisborne is on Russian account, and that since November more than 10,000 bales have been dispatched to main ports.
