PUBLIC NOTICES. to a point on N.E. boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 997 S sixteen chains N.W. from Mt. Hutt and Alford Forest Road, thence in a general South-Easterly direction through R.S. 19637 for a distance of seventeen chains from Block IX to a point on Mt. Hutt and' Alford Forest Road twelve chains N.E. from Western corner of R.S. 19G38, Block X, Hutt S.D., thence from road in a general SouthEasterly direction for sixty-four chains through Lot 2 D.P. 3904 to a point at the existing water-race in R.S. 19666.

All fhe above water channels are more particularly delineated on the plan hereinafter referred to marked “A” and tinted red. It is intended by the said Council on behalf of the Chairman, Councillors and Inhabitants of the County of Ashburton to take or acquire the following rights and easements over a strip of land 50 links in breadth along the entire course of the said water channels. (1) Full and free right and liberty to construct, keep and maintain a water race upon the said strip of land. (2) The right to carry and lead water in, upon and along such water race. (3) The right to dig and break-up the surface of the said land and to make a channel therein and to do all other acts, matters and things which may be necessary or convenient in connection with the construction, maintenance, inspection, repair, alteration, enlargement or cleansing of the said race or the leading or carrying of water in, upon or along the same. (4) The right to deposit and leave spoil and cleanings from any such race upon the banks thereof and (5) Full and free right and liberty at all times of way and passage for the members of the Ashburton County Council and the officers, workmen, contractors, and agents of the said Council with or without horses, vehicles, motors, machinery, tools and plant over and upon the said strip of land for all purposes connected with the constructing, maintenance, inspection, repair, alteration, enlargement, and cleansing of the said water race. AND NOTICE is also given in pursuance of the provisions of Section 24 of the said Act that it is intended to take water for the supply of the said race from -the stream or County Water Race in Rural Section 3091 G, Block 1, Spaxton Survey District at a point about four chains down the existing concrete channel from Pudding Hill Intake. A Plan showing the course of the proposed water race and the lands, roads and reserves over or through which it is intended that the said race shall pass and also the situation of the said stream or County water race, ' has been deposited in the Magistrate’s Courthouse, Methven, and at the office of the Ashburton County Council, Baring Square, Ashburton, and will be open for public inspection without fee during office hours for 30 days after the publication of this notice. Objection to the making of the said water race or to the taking of the said water by any person or local authority entitled to make the same may be lodged at the office of the said Council within the said period of 30 days. The objections must be in writing, signed by the objectors and must state the particular nature of the objection. Dated this 19th day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four.
