PUBLIC NOTICE. ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL. ■JUOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in pursuance of the provisions of the 13th section of “The Water Supply Act, 1908,” that the above Council intends upon the expiration of thirty days after the publication of this notice to construct a water race in the Ashburton County Water Race District, and the general course of the said race will be as follows:

Commencing at a point in R.S. 30916, Block 1, Spaxton S.D. on the N.E. bank of the Pudding Hill Stream and about four chains down existing concrete channel from Pudding Hill Intake, thence in an Easterly direction for ten chains, thence further through R.S. 30916 in a South-Easterly direction for twenty chains into R. 2571, crossing boundary between R.S. 30916 and R. 2571 at a point twelve chains, S.W. of adjoining Road thence through R. 2571 in a SouthEasterly direction for a distance of live chains, thence in a NorthEasterly for thirteen chains from R. 2571 onto road, and crossing road at a point three and one half chains South-East from North corner of R. 2571, thence in a North-Easterly direction for ten chains through R.S. 30818 into R.S. 31417, crossing common boundary at a point nine chains N.E. of Road, thence through R. 31417 in a general Northerly direction for twenty-five chains to common boundary of R.S. 31417 and 30179, crossing that boundary at a point seventeen chains West of Northern corner of R.S. 30818, thence through R.S. 30179 in a general Northerly direction for a distance of twenty-nine chains, thence in an Easterly direction for fifteen chains, thence in a NorthEasterly direction for twelve chains from R.S. 30179 onto the Back Road crossing Back Road at a point thirty-seven chains West of Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road, thence into R.S. 30737 continuing therein in a North-Easter-ly direction for twelve chains passing from Block 1, Spaxton into and through Block VIII Hutt S. thence through R.S. 30737, Block IX Hutt S.D. in a SouthEasterly direction for seven chains, thence in a North-Easter-ly direction for seven chains, thence in a South-Easterly direction for seven chains, thence in a North-Easterly direction for nine chains through South corner of R.S. 30183 but returning to R.S. 30737, thence in a Northerly direction for twelve chains through its East boundary into R.S. 30183 and continuing therein in an Easterly direction for five chains, thence in a South-Easterly direction for four chains to Eastern boundary of R.S. 30183 at a point ten chains North of its Southern corner, thence through R.S. 30737 in a South-Easterly direction for six- chains, thence in a NorthEasterly direction for five chains to a point on Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road twenty-eight chains N.E. of Back Road, thence across Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road into R.S. 30177 in a North-Easterly direction for twelve chains to boundary line between R.Ss. 30177 and 29890 at a point four chains S.E. of Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road,

thence in a North-Easterly direction through R.S. 29890 for thirteen chains to a point on Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road twelve chains N.E. from West corner of R.S. 29890, thence across Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road and through R.S. 36497 in a North-Easterly direction for nineteen chains to a point on S.W. boundary of R.S. 3289 S five chains N.W. from Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road, thence in a general North-Easterly direction for twenty chains through R.Ss. 32898 and 30977 to S.W. boundary of R.S. 30181 at a point eight chains N.W. from Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road, thence through R.S. 30181 in a NorthEasterly direction for sixteen chains to a point on Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road thirteen chains N.E. from Southern corner of R.S. 30181, thence in an irregular but general Easterly direction across road into R.S. 31378 and continuing therein for a total distance of thirty chains to S.W. boundary of R.S. 30175 at a point on that boundary eleven chains S.E. from Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road, thence through R.S. 30175 in a North-Easterly direction for thirty-five chains to a. point on Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road opposite boundary between R.Ss. 30175 and 30174, thence in a Northerly direction for twenty chains across Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road into R.S. 30180, thence in a North-Easterly direction for fifteen chains to a point on boundary of R.Ss. 30180 and 30337 ten chains N.W. from angle of Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road, thence through R.S. 30337 in a general Northerly direction for five chains, thence continuing in a general North-Easterly direction for. forty-two chains through R.S. 30337 to an unformed road at a point eight chains N.W. from Northern corner of R.S. 22368, thence in an Easterly direction for ten chains from road into R.S. 30182, thence in a Southerly direction for six chains to a point on the boundary of R.Ss. 30182 and 33476 nine chains North East from road, thence in a SouthEasterly direction for twentyeight chains through R.Ss. 33476 and 19752 to a point on Single Tree and Rakaia Bridge Road ten chains N.E. from West corner of R.S. 19637, thence in a SouthEasterly direction for eight chains into R.S. 19637, thence in a North-
