BAR TO CROSS AWARD.
NEW ZEALAND SEAMAN. LONDON, Jan. 12. The New Zealand Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) lias been advised by the Admiralty that the King has approved the award of a bar to his Distinguished Service Cross to Tem-porary-Lieutenant Frank Athol Joseph Pennington, for good service in the attack on Salerno. He was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for good service in the destruction of enemy aircraft. He entered the Royal Navy in 1940 and received his commission in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1941. His mother is Mrs G. A. Pennington, of Wellington.—British Official Wireless.
