FATHER CHRISTMAS.

For about half an hour this afternoon about two chains of the footpath in East Street was jammed with children and their mothers awaiting the arrival of Father Christmas at a wellknown retail establishment. To foi’ce a passage through the crowd would have taken more time than it was worth and all pedestrians' who were passing had to take to the roadway. After, driving the length of East Street in a small cart drawn by an even smaller pony, Father Christmas entered the shop and the footpath became reasonably negotiable again.
