HOLIDAY BOOKINGS.

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. The announcement that steamer passengers to December 22 could be booked from to-day resulted in long queues at the Union Steam Ship Company’s office and the Government Tourist Bureau, and also expedited railway bookings, prospective holidaymakers following up their assurance of sea transport by making railway arrangements so far as the month’s margin permits. The Union Company states that it does not think that the rush to book was necessary because the time-tables arranged for the holiday period have a much greater capacity than for a number of years. This applies also to the whole of the Christmas and New Year period, extending from December 20 to January 9.
