CROSSINGS OF SANGRO RIVER.
AIR ATTACKS ON TARGETS (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 14. A communique issued in Algiers says: “Patrols were active on the sth Army front, where our positions were improved. An enemy infantry force encountered in the hills was severely dealt with by American troops. Enemy artillery was active on the coastal areas. The village of Atessa, of 10,000 inhabitants, 12 miles inland and six milles from Sangro, and high ground adjacent was captured by the Bth Army against stiff resistance.
Elsewhere Stli Army patrols pushed westward and on Saturday penetrated across the Sangro in places.” An air communique says that light bombers of the North-west African Air Force on Saturday attacked railway lines and road junctions at Palena while others bombed communication lilies at Atina. Fighter-bombers and fighters attacked trains, motor transport, airfields and bridges. Nine enemy aircraft were shot down in combat.
On Friday night light bombers and intruder bombers attacked enemy motor transport and trains in northern Italy. One aircraft is missing, hut the pilot is safe.—British Official Wireless.
