AIR FORCE BAND.

VISITING ASHBURTON. PUBLIC PERFORMANCE TO-MORROW. A public performance will be given in Ashburton to-morrow afternoon by the Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, which is touring Air Force stations throughout the Dominion and arrived at Ashburton yesterday afternoon. Leaving the Post Office at 2.30 the Band will march to the patriotic stall in East Street and from there will give a display of slow' marching. A musical programme will also be provided for about an hour. On the first occasion when the Band visited Ashburton it appeared in the streets for half an hour, during which time £BO was collected for patriotic funds. That was a record for New Zealand and remained unbeaten for over a year, but has been beaten two or three times since. Flight-Lieuten-ant H. Gladstone-Hill, the Director of Music for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, said this morning that he hoped the collection taken to-morrow would bring the record back to Ashburton. The Royal New Zealand Air Force dance band will play at the patriotic ball at St. Stephen’s Hall to-night and its presence should be a great attraction, particularly to those who attended the last Air Force ball at Ashburton and remember the standard of its performance.
