THE WEATHER.
HALF-INCH OF SNOW AND RAIN. Clouds covered the sky over Ashburton to-day, the sun ’shining only at intervals. The snow, sleet and rain wllich fell after 9 o’clock yesterday morning measured 25 points which, with the 26 points recorded on the previous day, makes a total of 51 points. The thermometer measured 39.4 degrees yesterday, falling to 32.5 in the night. On Tuesday there were temperatures of 57 and 32.2 degrees. For the second time this month, the barometer has risen above 30 inches, 30.06 inches being read this morning. Yesterday 29.86 inches were registered. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. ‘ret (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —
Moderate south-westerly winds, A few isolated shoAvers at first on . the coast; weather otherwise fair to cloudy. Temperatures cold, with hard frosts. Further outlook: Fair.
