PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
ASHBURTON BOUNTY'S QUOTA. SUM OF £3224 TO BE RAISED. South Rakaia and Ashburton are the only ridings in the Ashburton County which have attained their patriotic quotas for the current year. South Rakaia has over-subscribed its quota by 28 per cent, and Ashburton by 3 per cent. The Wakanui and Rangitata Ridings are next in order, with 87 and 84 per cent, of their rcspectivo quotas. Following are the amounts raised by the various ridings, the quotas being shown in parentheses: Ashburton £960 5s lid (£748), Mount Hutt £652 7s 6d (£2600), Mount Somers £952 19s (£1867), Rangitata £1377 Us (£1637), South Rakaia £1935 4s 6d (£1877), Upper Ashburton £947 16s lid (£1512), Wakanui £lllß Is lOd (£1277). Other sources contributed £3OB ss. £4O 9s 6d was received from Tinwald. Amounts received totalled £8293 Is 3d £11,518, leaving £3224 18s lOd to be raised.
