THE HOME GUARD.

STATEMENT BY MR FRASER. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 2G. “There still appears to bo some misconception as to tlie present and futui e role of the Home Guard,” said the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hem. P. Fraser) to-night. “In my statement to the press of June 26*1 made it, quite clear that, although compulsory parades would lie restricted to one lull day parade of six hours a quarter, units could arrange additional parades for- range practices, for which ammunition would be issued, and any further musters which, it is hoped, they will arrange, especially in cities, to help in the production of foodstuffs, or otherwise in the interests of the national war ’effort.”
