DEMAND FOR CLOTHES

6Y DISCHARGED SERVICEMEN.

COMPLETE OUTFITS WANTED. Men’s outfitters in Ashburton are finding themselves hard put to it to meet some of the demands that have been made bn them lately, particularly by men who have been discharged from the Armed Forces arid require complete liew outfits of clothing. There are many cases of men who, when they entered camp, either sold or gave their civilian clothes away. They have been in uniform for maybe two years or more arid it comes as rather a surrpise to them to find that the days when they could pick arid choose exactly what they wanted in the clothing line are gone. Then there’are men who have gained or lost weight , during their periods of service, with the result that their old “civvies” no longer fit them. Here again, these men find themselves forced to go from shop to shop to complete their requirements, as there are probably few establishments in New. Zealand, let alone Ashburton, that can boast a complete range of consecutive sizes of men’s garments to-day. In cases where men have not bought cloth’es for two years or more, the vendor of clothes is frequently greeted with a Stare of blank surprise and dismay when he announces the price of 'his. wares.
