REDUCTION MADE.

RETAIL PRICE OF POTATOES. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 29. An amendment to the Potatoes Price •Order issued to-night reduces the maximum retail price of potatoes by >d per lb during May and June. The maximum prices now are:—Canterbury and Otago, lid; main port areas, lid; country districts, Ifd.

The amendment also provides for a pro rata reduction for lots of 141 b and over.

The prices have been reduced to assist in maintaining the prices of basic vegetables at a reasonable level, and the reduction will not affect the price payable to producers.
