THE WEATHER.

MIST THIS MORNING. Mist covered Ashburton during the earlier part of the morning to-day, and when it cleared the sky remained dull and overcast. Rain measuring two points fell during the night. The maximum temperature yesterday was G 1.4 degrees, against 6d.8 cm Wednesday. The minimum (35.5) was the same on both days.

The barometer has dropped from 30.01 inches yesterday to 29.73 to-day.

TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of .the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows; Northerly to north-westerly winds, becoming fresh at times. Weather mainly fair, but drizzle developing in the Alps during to-morrow. Temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Fair.
