CAPTURE OF TRIPOLI.
PROMISE BY GENERAL. (Official War Correspondent N.Z.E.F ) CAIRO, January 22. There is an amusing story told of a New Zealand sentry who a fortnight aoo had a yarn with Lieutenant-Gen-eral Sir B. C. Freyberg, V.C., K. 0.8., K.8.E., C.M.G., D.S.O. “How are things going?” asked the General. The. sentry looked glum—-“ Fair, ho replied. “Don't worry; we’ll be in Tripoli about the twenty-fifth,” said General Freyberg. The sentry reflected: “No; that won’t do, Sir.” “Why?” asked General Freyberg. “It’s my birthday on January 22,” answered the sentry. “We’ll see what we can do,” promised tho General with a smile. The sentry saw tho Union Jack flying over Tripoli on January 22 !
