grain and produce. SOUTH CANTERBURY MARKET. TIMARU, Oct. S. Business has been quiet on the South Canterbury grain and produce market during the last week, but there have been a few inquiries for special lines of seeds. Current fixed prices for wheat, including the monthly increments, are: Tuscan 6s 2d, Hunters 6s 4d, and Velvet 6s 6d a bushel. Little interest has been shown in cots. Cartons remain at 3s 6d and Duns at 3s a bushel. Contract prices for barley for the coming season will • probably he the same as last season, namely: Windrowed 4s 7 id, stook threshed 4s Lid, and stack threshed 5s 3d a bushel. Feed barley is quoted at 4s a bushel. Very few lines of table potatoes remain. Inquiries ore still being received for seed potatoes, but supplies are limited to a few odd parcels. The demand continues for pedigree and mother Montgomery red and white clovers, mainly for local sowing. Other lines of seed' remain, at last week’s prices: Certified mother ryegrass, according to purity and germination, 10s 6d a bushelpermanent pasture ryegrass, 8s 6d a bushel; certified Italian ryegrass, mother seed 9s a bushel, uncertified os a bushel; uncertified ryegrass, f.d., 4s 6d a bushel; certified Montgomery red clover 3s 3d per lb, uncertified 2s fid ; cowgrass, f.d., Is per lb; cocksfoot, f.d., Is per lb.
