ATTACK BY CHINESE.

DRIVE IN SUBURBS OF LANCHI. LONDON, Oct. 7. “ The Chinese, attacking the twin cities of Kinhwn. and Lunchi, in Chekiang Province, drove a wedge into the Japanese lines in the eastern suburbs of Lanehi,” says a Chungking communique. “They arc also cutting the railway between the two cities, thus making more precarious the position of the garrison at Lanehi, which is already hard pressed by Chinese attacks which have driven into the immediate outskirts.” The Chungking correspondent of the Associated Press of America says that Chinese forces carried out a devastating raid on the Sanyukang railway station:, on the south coast of Hainan. —British Official Wireless.
