EXAMINATIONS AT TINWALD . Results of examinations held recently under the auspices of the Tinwald sub-branch of the Red Cross Society are:— Elementary sanitation and hygiene: Honours, Misses J. Crosson, J. S. and R. H. Muirhead; passes, Misses' P. Harper, E. L. Watson, A. M., and C. M. Crosson. Intermediate Nursing: Honours, Mrs R. Cornish, Misses M. Jennings, J. S. and R. H. Muirhead; . passes, Mesdames B. McCale, M. Lattimore, E. Wilson, F; Pearce, A. Taylof, Misses P. Lattimore, L. Vessey, M. A. Kean, H. Lill, M. Chapman, C. M., J., and A. M. E. A. Lewis, M. A. McLay, J. Andrews.
Elementary Nursing: Hohours: Mesdames M. Shaw, S. Chapman, Reddecliff, E. M. Roberts, Misses J. N. Belcher, E. Lowery, N. and E. Clark; passes, Mesdames K. O’Keefe, F. Stigley, Misses R. J. Sutton, B. Bell, M. Sewell, M. E. Hampton, B. E. Campbell, F. M. Brunton, E. L. Christie, and M. Johnston. The lecturer in elementary sanitation and hygiene was Miss H. M. Arnold, and the examiner was Mrs J. S. Connolly. For the intermediate and elementary nursing classes the lecturers were Mrs W. W. Avery and Miss Arnold. The examiner was Mrs Guilford Todd.
THE LAURISTON SUB-BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Lauriston sub-branch of tho Red Cross Society was well attended and was presided over by tho president (Mrs AV. Gimson). Interesting letters were received from overseas from 2nd-Lieut. Edna Lemon and Pto. H. Farqnhar. The president gave an extensive report .of the annual meeting of the Ashburton centre of the Society. Arrangements were made to send a parcel of comforts to Pte. R. McKenzie, who is a prisoner of war in Germany. Airs T. C. AlcLachlan, who is in charge of the Lauriston first-aid post, reported that her husband’s truck was being converted into an emergency ambulance. Air and Mrs C. Hilgendorf, who presented a spacious cupboard to the firstaid post, and Air J. Jacobs, who painted the cupboard, were accorded votes of appreciation. The local V.A.D.’s were requested to parade, in conjunction with the Home Guard, at the Anzac Day service.
In view of the - fact that Red Cross socials for raising funds are not at present being held, Red Cross collection tins are being placed in the homes of the district for the purpose of raising the necessary funds. Work handed in by members comprised: 11 pairs mittens, G pairs sox, 3 pairs pyjamas, 1 balaclava, 8 pullovers, 4 scarves.
