THE WEATHER.

HOT NORTHERLY WIND. A hot northerly wind blow strongly in Ashburton to-day. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 60.4 and 52.2 degrees, compared with 66.5 and 45.6 on Wednesday. The barometer to-day stood at 29.84 inches, little change since yesterday.

TO DAY'S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the cast’ coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows : Moderate to fresh northerly to northwesterly winds, becoming strong at times. Weather fair and warm, hut some rain developing later in the ranges. Further outlook: Little change.
