ACTION IN WESTERN DESERT. AN ENEMY TANK DAMAGED. (Rec. 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. A communique issued at Cairo states: “On Sunday night our patrols wore active outside all sectors of Tobruk, but contact with the enemy was not made as he lias apparently withdrawn his advance posts to a. safe distance. In a patrol encounter yesterday some 10 miles south of Solium, our mobile artillery damaged one enemy tank which was withdrawn under a smoke screen. We sustained no casualties. Enemy artillery from the Hal fay a sector continued intermittent shelling throughout tho day without causing any damage or obstructing the movements of our patrols in this area.”—British Official Wireless. <
